Laser Hair Removal
Courses

Laser hair removal is most effective as a planned course rather than an isolated treatment. Hair follicles move through different stages of their biological growth cycle and are not synchronised. One appointment therefore cannot reliably treat every potentially productive follicle. At LovesSkin, most clients begin with approximately 6 – 8 treatments, with the course adapted according to treatment area, skin tone, hair characteristics, hormonal influences and response.

Overview

What Is a Laser Hair Removal Course?

A course is a structured series of appointments designed to progressively reduce the population of suitable pigmented hairs within a treatment area. It begins with consultation and patch testing. We then monitor how the hair responds across subsequent sessions and adjust the treatment strategy where appropriate. The endpoint is not simply “have you completed eight appointments?” It is “how much suitable hair remains, how is it behaving and is further treatment worthwhile?”

Hair follicles pass through different growth stages. Laser relies on sufficient pigment within a suitable growing hair to deliver heat into the follicular structures. At any appointment, only part of the total hair population presents an optimal target. Another group becomes treatable later. That is why repeated appropriately spaced sessions are required.

Course Structure

How the Course Is Structured

Before Treatment Begins

Consultation & Patch Test

Every course starts here. We assess skin tone, hair characteristics, and treatment suitability; confirm the most appropriate wavelength and settings; and carry out a patch test before any full treatment. This is not a formality; it is the foundation of a safe and effective course.

Wavelength Selection

The Duetto MT platform provides Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm. The significance is not simply that LovesSkin has two wavelengths. It is that the practitioner has greater flexibility when selecting a strategy for different combinations of skin tone, hair pigment and treatment area.

Session Intervals

Treatment intervals are based on the biological behaviour of the area being treated. Different body sites have different growth cycles. Your practitioner will advise when the next treatment is likely to be useful.

Ongoing Adaptation

We monitor how the hair responds across subsequent sessions and adjust the treatment strategy where appropriate. The course evolves with your skin, not against a fixed appointment count.

Darker Skin Tones

Laser hair reduction can be considered across a broad range of skin tones when the appropriate wavelength, settings and technique are used. Nd:YAG 1064 nm is particularly relevant in appropriately selected darker-skin protocols. Our approach: personalised laser hair reduction across a broad spectrum of skin tones following individual assessment.

Special Considerations

Why a Course, Not a One-Off Treatment

PCOS & Hormonal Facial Hair

Hormonal facial hair deserves its own expectations. Suitable coarse pigmented hair may respond to laser. However, laser does not change the underlying hormonal environment, meaning new hairs can continue to become active. Clients with PCOS or other hormonal influences may therefore require more treatment and ongoing maintenance than somebody treating stable body hair.

Fine Facial Hair

Not every visible facial hair should be treated. Fine facial and neck hair can be a poor laser target, and the face and neck are the areas most associated with the recognised uncommon adverse effect of paradoxical hair stimulation. A good laser consultation therefore sometimes ends with: “This hair is not suitable for laser.”

Our Philosophy

The LovesSkin Approach to Laser Courses

Because effective laser treatment is not simply about completing a set number of appointments. It is knowing: whether the hair is a good target; which wavelength makes sense; how the treatment should be adjusted; when the next session is useful; what hormonal factors may change expectations; and when further treatment is no longer adding enough value.

FAQs

Common Questions About Laser Courses

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients start with approximately six to eight treatments. The actual number depends on skin tone, hair colour, hormonal influences, growth cycle and individual response.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

The more accurate term is long-term hair reduction. Some follicles may stop producing hair. Others may produce finer regrowth. New hairs can also become active over time.

How are treatments spaced?

Treatment intervals are based on the biological behaviour of the area being treated. Different body sites have different growth cycles. Your practitioner will advise when the next treatment is likely to be useful.
