Why Does LovesSkin Use Alexandrite and Nd:YAG Laser?
Different combinations of skin and hair require different optical strategies.
Alexandrite 755 nm
Has strong melanin absorption, particularly effective for lighter skin tones with dark hair.
Nd:YAG 1064 nm
Interacts differently with epidermal melanin and is particularly important in appropriately selected darker skin protocols.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser light is absorbed by melanin within suitable pigmented hair. The light energy converts into heat and creates controlled thermal damage within structures involved in producing the hair.

Who Is Laser Hair Removal Best Suited To?
Laser works best where sufficient pigment is present within the hair. Dark, coarse hairs generally create a stronger target than grey, white or very lightly pigmented hairs.
Laser Hair Removal for PCOS and Hormonal Facial Hair
Hormonal facial hair can respond to laser when suitable pigmented terminal hair is present. However, hormonal activity can continue to stimulate future growth, meaning additional sessions or ongoing maintenance may be required.
Can You Laser Fine Facial Hair?
Not every visible facial hair should be treated with laser. Fine or poorly pigmented facial hair requires particularly careful assessment. Sometimes the correct recommendation is not to laser it.
Laser Hair Removal for Darker Skin Tones
Laser can be considered across a broad range of skin tones when the appropriate wavelength and treatment parameters are used. Our Nd:YAG capability is particularly relevant to this.
Can Laser Hair Removal Help Ingrown Hairs?
For suitable clients, reducing hair density and calibre can reduce the repeated cycle of shaving, irritation and ingrowing hairs.
Laser Hair Removal Consultation & Patch Test
Before beginning treatment, we assess:

Hair colour
Treatment area
Relevant medical history
Sun exposure
Wavelength strategy
Before You Start
“A patch test is required before your first laser session, it is part of our clinical protocol.”
Why Do I Need a Course of Laser Hair Removal?
Hair grows through different biological phases. Not every follicle is active at the same time.
Most clients therefore begin with approximately six to eight treatments, with timing adjusted according to treatment area and response.

“I was initially quite nervous to get my laser treatment done as it was my first time, but Emily was so friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I’m so pleased with the results, I just regret not getting it sooner.”
