Acne scarring, texture, atrophic scar architecture

Treat the structure of the scar, not simply the surface.
Acne Marks and Acne Scars Are Not the Same Thing
A flat red or brown mark left after a breakout is different from a structural scar. Post-acne colour may involve: redness; post-inflammatory pigmentation; or both.
A true atrophic scar involves a physical change in the skin’s architecture. Treating them as the same problem can lead to the wrong technology being selected.
What Types of Acne Scars Are There?
Common depressed scars include: rolling scars; boxcar scars; ice-pick scars; and mixed scar patterns. Some scars are also tethered more deeply to underlying tissue.
That matters because one treatment cannot be expected to correct every scar architecture equally well.
Mixed scars are common. A broad area of shallow textural scarring and one deeply tethered scar may exist on the same face. They do not necessarily require the same intervention.
Where appropriate, treatment may therefore involve a staged or combination approach rather than repeatedly performing one procedure and expecting it to solve every scar type.
Treatment Options
Effective acne-scar treatment starts by establishing what kind of structural change is actually present.
Structural Dermal Remodelling
Morpheus8
RF microneedling has a particularly strong evidence base for atrophic acne-scar remodelling. By placing controlled fractional RF energy at selected depths, Morpheus8 can help remodel the tissue within and surrounding appropriate scars. The objective is improvement in scar depth and skin texture — not “scar erasure”.

Controlled Skin Renewal
Microneedling
Microneedling creates tiny controlled channels in the skin to trigger its natural repair response and support new collagen formation. It may be particularly relevant for acne scarring, uneven texture, enlarged pores and early fine lines, helping the skin become smoother and more refined over time.
Should Active Acne Be Controlled First?
If breakouts are still active, the first priority may be to calm and stabilise the skin before focusing more intensively on scarring.
Your treatment plan will depend on what is present, whether that is active breakouts, post-breakout redness or pigmentation, textural scarring, or a combination of these concerns.
Acne scarring cannot always be completely removed, but the right treatment plan can create meaningful improvement. Depending on the type and depth of scarring, treatment may help soften the appearance of scars, make skin texture look more even, improve the transition between scarred and surrounding skin, and improve overall skin quality.
